"Kolona" at the De Bosset Bridge - Kefalonia Landmark Prints
"Kolona" at the De Bosset Bridge
This is one of the main attractions and landmarks in Argostoli, Kefalonia. The De Bosset Bridge, built in 1813, is the largest stone bridge over a body of sea water. The British army hired Swiss engineer Charles Philippe De Bosset to connect the penninsula of Argostoli to the village of Drapano across the bay. This monument called "kolona" was errected by the Kefalonian Parliament as a symbol of gratitude to Great Britain.
